Merry Christmas

Merry CHRISTmas everyone!

Farewell to Middle Earth

Battle of the Five Armies

I spent most of the day addressing and sending out our family's Christmas cards. I've been doing this job for the past three years or so. I really enjoy doing it. As I was working on that project, I kept thinking back to the Battle of the Five Armies which we went to see last night. I'm not sure what I think of it so far. It was pretty awesome, yet filled with so much action, that it will take a bit to "soak it all in" :). I will probably be seeing it again (or rather several times if I can) in the theater. **SPOILER ALERT** If you haven't seen the movie yet, don't read the following words in blue!I left the theater feeling sad over the death of Fili, Kili and Thorin and quite frankly the end of the Middle Earth movies :'(. I awoke this morning with that same feeling. The movie itself, as I mentioned above, was FILLED with action. The beginning of the movie picked up right where the Desolation of Smaug left us (remember all those cliff-hangers?! I…

Tauriel Cosplay Part III: The Finished Product!

The Tauriel costume project was a great experience for me! Although it didn't turn out exactly how I had imagined it, I still think it looks pretty good :). I worked on this project for over two weeks and finished just the day before we went to the Hobbit premiere. I learned a lot trying my hand at creating a full costume! It was tons of fun :). Here are some pictures of my finished "Tauriel" or "Woodland Elf" dress and all of it's accessories:

My mom did my hair (though I did the fishtail braid... I'm really not good at doing hair since I haven't had any sisters to practice on, but I do know how to do fishtail braids!). We used this helpful video as a tutorial for Tauriel's hairdo.

Tauriel Cosplay Part II: Sewing

The Hobbit

I can't believe The Battle of the Five Armies premiere is tomorrow night already. My brother recently bought the music, so that has been getting us really excited!
My dad, brothers, some friends and I are going to one of the first showings at 7:30pm (there was no 12am opening night showing this year in our area). I can't wait! The movie is going to be so awesome and epic and sad :'(.
My costume is nearly finished. I am working on the vest tonight (last minute idea!). If that doesn't work out, I have a stomacher that I sewed to replace the vest. Although the costume didn't turn out quite how I envisioned it, it still looks great. I decided that instead of going to the theater dressed as Tauriel, I will go as an elf with a dress similar to Tauriel's :). I will be posting more of my costume "adventure" later (most likely after the Hobbit premiere), so stay tuned :).

Tauriel Cosplay Part I: Starting Out

Back in early November I started to think how fun it would be to dress up for the third and final Hobbit installment. I decided that if I did end up making my own costume, I would make one of Tauriel's. So I started looking online for ideas. That's when I came across The Adventures of An Elven Princess. This blog had just the information I was looking for. I was a bit hesitant to make Tauriel's costume at first since I did want to spend too much money on the project and I had never tried sewing a costume of that extent before. But I decided to go for it!

These next few posts are not meant to be a tutorial at all~ just my "adventure" with my little costume project :). I  plan to write two more posts on it: sewing and the finished product.

This is a list of what I purchased for the costume.....

Tauriel's necklace: I bought this on Amazonfor only $13.99. I love it! It's such a pretty necklace that you can really wear anytime you want not just with th…

Winter Frost

Just take a look at this beautiful frost from this morning. Nothing is more spectacular and beautiful than the hand of God. His works truly do praise Him!
